Extended Bio
The post-industrial drone and beat heavy duo Snowbeasts began as an experimental modular synth side project of Raab Codec (Robert Galbraith) composed during the harsh and blizzard riddled winter of 2014 in the Northeast.
During the winters that followed, Elizabeth Virosa (Elizabeth Galbraith) contributed further to the project by writing tracks and adding ethereal vocals, as the act became more involved in the Providence electronic music scene.
Snowbeasts have been prolific since their inception: to date, they have over 20 releases, including collaborations with Dead Voices on Air, Solypsis, D.U.M.E., and Theologian. Snowbeasts have performed live in festivals and line-ups, including Alessandro Cortini (NIN), Richard Devine, Bestial Mouths, Mark Hosler (Negativland), Harpy, Void Vision, and many more. Their most recent release, The Endless, is available on RE:Mission Entertainment.
In 2023, they performed several shows across the United States, including a Northeast tour with Compactor, shows in California, Chicago, and Detroit, and a sold-out performance at the Planetarium of the Boston Museum of Science.
Each of their sets is unique, improvising their gritty, harsh, and dark techno beats using live electronics and mixing the mesmerizing vocal textures, commanding voice, and ethereal chants of Virosa to create haunting body music.
While Snowbeasts’ previous releases focus almost exclusively on bleak and barren dark ambient soundscapes, later releases have a more post-industrial feel with heavier and harsher beat-driven tracks.
Their most recent full release, The Endless, is available on RE:Mission Entertainment. Currently, the band is working on a new release to further evolve their unique sound and push their live performances to the next level.
